eWiki: A PHP wiki that uses git as backend

eWiki is a small PHP5-based Wiki written by a friend that does not rely on a database as a backend storage, but on Git to store articles. It is written in pure PHP, so it will run on most shared webhosts that don't allow system calls. As far as I know, eWiki includes the only working git library written in PHP.
Every article is a file, every edit results in a commit. When two people edit a article at the same time, a conflict branch is created which has to be merged manually. If two people edit different articles at the same time, eWiki will automatically merge the two edits using a "Fast merge". Changes can both be made directly at the git layer or via a webinterface, which can be protected using a simple user authentication system.

I currently use it for my personal Wiki, but our class also uses it in school to track English subject matter for our Matura (this is also where the screenshot comes from).

Inode/Chello/UPC altering internet traffic, displaying porn advertisement

To help users to find faster, what they are searching for (as they describe it) or to generate revenue from typos (as I would describe it), my provider (Inode, now part of UPC) decided to start intercepting DNS queries and changing the results for unregistered domains. As you can see, their advertisements includes stuff like "sex toys" and "dildo" shops. No thanks, UPC.

Today I'm laughing at all those idiots who bought Microsoft(R) PlaysForSure(TM) DRM-encrypted music tracks and believed that DRM would actually be a safe and legal way to buy music. Microsoft(R) will shut down the their DRM verification server at the end of August 2008 which makes all the music you "bought" and "own" useless as soon as you upgrade your computer or your operating system or want to transfer "your" music" to your MP3 player.

I love LVM2 and xfs

My hard disk was constantly seeking (scratchy noises coming out of my PC) but looking at the output of htop did not show anything special, until I got an error message from Iceweasel that /tmp was full. df displayed that:

david@apoll:/tmp$ df -h
Dateisystem Größe Benut Verf Ben% Eingehängt auf
/dev/mapper/default-system 10G 10G 40K 100% /

(For the non-geeks: My main hard disk partition was almost full).

Thank god I use the Linux LVM, so I simply did this to get more free space:

david@apoll:~$ sudo lvextend -L+5G /dev/default/system
Extending logical volume system to 15,00 GB
Logical volume system successfully resized
david@apoll:~$ sudo xfs_growfs /
(...)
data blocks changed from 2621440 to 3932160
david@apoll:~$ df -h /
Dateisystem Größe Benut Verf Ben% Eingehängt auf
/dev/mapper/default-system 15G 9,7G 5,4G 65% /

I love that LVM allows you to change partitions on the fly and that xfs allows you to actually resized mounted (=in use) partitions.

Wuala is a P2P based online storage. After you signed up (invitation only, if you want an inivitation leave a comment) you get 1 GB free space. You can get more storage by sharing storage. If you decide to share 2 GB of your hard drive and your uptime is 50% you get 2 GB * 0,5 = 1 GB. Early alpha and only for windows and mac, but looks promising.
